Cards On The Table

“And Jabez called on the God of Israel saying, “Oh, that You would bless me indeed, and enlarge my territory, that Your hand would be with me, and that You would keep me from evil, that I may not cause pain!” So God granted him what he requested.” 1st Chronicles‬ ‭4:10‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

Build people: Love God, Love people, and inspire others to do the same.  

Introduce you. 

“Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.” Acts 4:12

“Taste and see that the Lord is good. Oh, the joys of those who take refuge in him!” Psalms 34:8

Take you deeper. 

The apostles said to the Lord, “Show us how to increase our faith.” Luke 17:5 NLT 

“For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love. For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. But whoever does not have them is nearsighted and blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their past sins.” 2 Peter‬ ‭1:5-9‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Lose yourself in it.

“No, dear brothers and sisters, I have not achieved it, but I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us.” Philippians‬ ‭3:13-14‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Pass it on.

“You then, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus. And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.” 2 Timothy‬ ‭2:1-2‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Nothing’s Changed

JESUS-Jesus is the Son of God and the redemption of mankind. He is the image and proof of God’s love. His example is the foundation of our faith and the guide to our lives, our ministry, and all that we do.

 

Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation. Colossians 1:15

 

So the Word became human and made his home among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness.  And we have seen his glory, the glory of the Father’s one and only Son. John 1:14

 

“Jesus is “ ‘the stone you builders rejected, which has become the cornerstone.’”

THE BIBLE-We believe the Bible is inspired by God. It contains His will for our lives, His promises to us, and His plans and paths for us. 

 

For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow. It exposes our innermost thoughts and desires. Hebrews 4:12

 

All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right. 2 Timothy 3:16

 

 CHURCH-The Church is the movement of God, working to bring people to Jesus, make disciples, and be His hands and feet. It’s not something we do, It’s who we are. 

 

“All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.”

‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12:27‬ ‭NLT‬‬

 

BAPTISM-Baptism is an expression of faith to symbolize, celebrate, and acknowledge the inward change that God has made- bringing the dead in us to life.

 

“And that water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.” ‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭3:21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

 

SALVATION-God’s forgiveness and grace are gifts given to every single person. They are not based on our works, but on Jesus' work on the cross.

 

For the Son of Man came to seek and to save the lost. Luke 19:10

I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out, and find pasture. The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. John 10:9-10

HOLY SPIRIT-The Holy Spirit is our counselor and our helper. We can be close to God through the Holy Spirit. God wants to do life with us. God’s Spirit changes our lives and the power of God’s Spirit works through our lives.

 

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you. Before long, the world will not see me anymore, but you will see me. Because I live, you also will live. On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you. John 14:18-20

 

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” Acts 1:8

 

GENEROSITY-We don’t have to be generous, we GET to be generous. Jesus gave us His all; therefore, we WANT to give Him our all. We trust Him with what He has entrusted to us and we invest in what we believe in.

Miracles and Making Moves

Miracles happen when you make better moves. 

Bring It!

One day the widow of a member of the group of prophets came to Elisha and cried out, “My husband who served you is dead, and you know how he feared the Lord. But now a creditor has come, threatening to take my two sons as slaves.” “What can I do to help you?” Elisha asked. “Tell me, what do you have in the house?” “Nothing at all, except a flask of olive oil,” she replied. And Elisha said, “Borrow as many empty jars as you can from your friends and neighbors. Then go into your house with your sons and shut the door behind you. Pour olive oil from your flask into the jars, setting each one aside when it is filled.” So she did as she was told. Her sons kept bringing jars to her, and she filled one after another. Soon every container was full to the brim! “Bring me another jar,” she said to one of her sons. “There aren’t any more!” he told her. And then the olive oil stopped flowing. When she told the man of God what had happened, he said to her, “Now sell the olive oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on what is left over.” ‭‭2 Kings‬ ‭4:1-7‬ ‭NLT‬‬ 

Be Audacious!

“She had heard about Jesus, so she came up behind him through the crowd and touched his robe. For she thought to herself, “If I can just touch his robe, I will be healed.” Immediately the bleeding stopped, and she could feel in her body that she had been healed of her terrible condition. Jesus realized at once that healing power had gone out from him, so he turned around in the crowd and asked, “Who touched my robe?” Mark‬ ‭5:27-30‬ ‭NLT 

Be Persistent.

“Then Jesus left Galilee and went north to the region of Tyre. He didn’t want anyone to know which house he was staying in, but he couldn’t keep it a secret. Right away a woman who had heard about him came and fell at his feet. Her little girl was possessed by an evil spirit, and she begged him to cast out the demon from her daughter. Since she was a Gentile, born in Syrian Phoenicia, Jesus told her, “First I should feed the children—my own family, the Jews. It isn’t right to take food from the children and throw it to the dogs.” She replied, “That’s true, Lord, but even the dogs under the table are allowed to eat the scraps from the children’s plates.” “Good answer!” he said. “Now go home, for the demon has left your daughter.” And when she arrived home, she found her little girl lying quietly in bed, and the demon was gone.” Mark‬ ‭7:24-30‬ ‭NLT‬‬

 

Keep Speaking!

This is what the Sovereign Lord says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Be ALL IN!

 

“They couldn’t bring him to Jesus because of the crowd, so they dug a hole through the roof above his head. Then they lowered the man on his mat, right down in front of Jesus.” ‭‭Mark‬ ‭2:4‬ ‭NLT

Love That Ain’t

“And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord" Romans‬ ‭8:38-39‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Love:

Exposes the areas of your life that need to change. 

“Come, let us return to the Lord. He has torn us to pieces; now he will heal us. He has injured us; now he will bandage our wounds. In just a short time he will restore us, so that we may live in his presence.” ‭‭Hosea‬ ‭6:1-2‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“My child, don’t reject the Lord’s discipline, and don’t be upset when he corrects you. For the Lord corrects those he loves, just as a father corrects a child in whom he delights.” ‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭3:11-12‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Empowers.  

“This is my prayer for you: that your love will grow more and more; that you will have knowledge and understanding with your love; that you will see the difference between good and bad and will choose the good; that you will be pure and without wrong for the coming of Christ; that you will be filled with the good things produced in your life by Christ to bring glory and praise to God.” Philippians‬ ‭1:9-11‬ ‭NCV‬‬

Doesn’t Enable.

“It is actually reported that there is sexual immorality among you, and of a kind that even pagans do not tolerate: A man is sleeping with his father’s wife. And you are proud! Shouldn’t you rather have gone into mourning and have put out of your fellowship the man who has been doing this? For my part, even though I am not physically present, I am with you in spirit. As one who is present with you in this way, I have already passed judgment in the name of our Lord Jesus on the one who has been doing this. So when you are assembled and I am with you in spirit, and the power of our Lord Jesus is present, hand this man over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, so that his spirit may be saved on the day of the Lord. Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know that a little yeast leavens the whole batch of dough?” ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭5:1-6‬ ‭NIV

 

 

Doesn’t Exasperate. 

 

“I am not overstating it when I say that the man who caused all the trouble hurt all of you more than he hurt me. Most of you opposed him, and that was punishment enough. Now, however, it is time to forgive and comfort him. Otherwise he may be overcome by discouragement. So I urge you now to reaffirm your love for him. I wrote to you as I did to test you and see if you would fully comply with my instructions. When you forgive this man, I forgive him, too. And when I forgive whatever needs to be forgiven, I do so with Christ’s authority for your benefit, so that Satan will not outsmart us. For we are familiar with his evil schemes.” 2 Corinthians‬ ‭2:5-11‬ ‭NLT‬‬

 

Forgives. 

 

“Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.” Luke‬ ‭23:34‬ ‭NLT‬‬

 

Let's go.

Wins. 

“Now we see things imperfectly, like puzzling reflections in a mirror, but then we will see everything with perfect clarity. All that I know now is partial and incomplete, but then I will know everything completely, just as God now knows me completely. Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.”

Stay In Your Lane

Practices.

“When Moses’ father-in-law saw all that Moses was doing for the people, he asked, “What are you really accomplishing here? Why are you trying to do all this alone while everyone stands around you from morning till evening?” Moses replied, “Because the people come to me to get a ruling from God. When a dispute arises, they come to me, and I am the one who settles the case between the quarreling parties. I inform the people of God’s decrees and give them his instructions.” “This is not good!” Moses’ father-in-law exclaimed. “You’re going to wear yourself out—and the people, too. This job is too heavy a burden for you to handle all by yourself.” ‭‭Exodus‬ ‭18:14-18‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“Do not give dogs what is sacred; do not throw your pearls to pigs. If you do, they may trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you to pieces.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭7:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

People. 

“The Lord had said to Abram, “Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you. “I will make you into a great nation, and I will bless you; I will make your name great, and you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.” So Abram went, as the Lord had told him; and Lot went with him…Genesis‬ ‭12:1-4‬ ‭NIV‬‬

After Lot had gone, the Lord said to Abram, “Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants as a permanent possession. And I will give you so many descendants that, like the dust of the earth, they cannot be counted! Pride.

“When Jesus noticed that all who had come to the dinner were trying to sit in the seats of honor near the head of the table, he gave them this advice: “When you are invited to a wedding feast, don’t sit in the seat of honor. What if someone who is more distinguished than you has also been invited? The host will come and say, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then you will be embarrassed, and you will have to take whatever seat is left at the foot of the table! “Instead, take the lowest place at the foot of the table. Then when your host sees you, he will come and say, ‘Friend, we have a better place for you!’ Then you will be honored in front of all the other guests. For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.” ‭‭Luke‬ ‭14:7-11 NLT

God wants you to discover, embrace, and grow in who He created you to be.

Here’s the problem:

You don’t know the possibilities. 

“In his grace, God has given us different gifts for doing certain things well. So if God has given you the ability to prophesy, speak out with as much faith as God has given you. If your gift is serving others, serve them well. If you are a teacher, teach well. If your gift is to encourage others, be encouraging. If it is giving, give generously. If God has given you leadership ability, take the responsibility seriously. And if you have a gift for showing kindness to others, do it gladly.” ‭‭Romans‬ ‭12:6-8‬ ‭NLT‬‬ 

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ. This will continue until we all come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God’s Son that we will be mature in the Lord, measuring up to the full and complete standard of Christ.”  ‭Ephesians‬ ‭4:11-13‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You don’t believe the promises. 

“Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.”  ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10:23‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“And it is impossible to please God without faith. Anyone who wants to come to him must believe that God exists and that he rewards those who sincerely seek him.”  ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11:6‬ ‭NLT‬‬

You aren’t faithful to the process. 

““If you love me, obey my commandments.”  ‭‭John‬ ‭14:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

“But Samuel replied, “What is more pleasing to the Lord: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to his voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols. So because you have rejected the command of the Lord, he has rejected you as king.” ‭‭1 Samuel‬ ‭15:22-23‬ ‭NLT‬‬ 

“My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. I do not treat the grace of God as meaningless. For if keeping the law could make us right with God, then there was no need for Christ to die.”  ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭2:20-21‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Be open.

Believe.

Obey. 

“This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun! And all of this is a gift from God, who brought us back to himself through Christ. And God has given us this task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people’s sins against them. And he gave us this wonderful message of reconciliation. So we are Christ’s ambassadors; God is making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead, “Come back to God!””  ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭5:17-20‬ ‭NLT‬

Change Ain’t Cheap

“And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok. He took them, sent them over the brook, and sent over what he had. Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.” But he said, ‘I will not let You go unless You bless me!’ So He said to him, ‘What is your name?’ He said, ‘Jacob.’ And He said, ‘Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.’ Then Jacob asked, saying, ‘Tell me Your name, I pray.’ And He said, ‘Why is it that you ask about My name?’ And He blessed him there. Pain Has Its Place

Pain has a purpose. 

In the same way I will not cause pain without allowing something new to be born,” says the Lord….‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭66:9‬ ‭NCV‬‬ 

Anxiety/Depression/Crisis has a purpose. 

We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers and sisters, about the troubles we experienced in the province of Asia. We were under great pressure, far beyond our ability to endure, so that we despaired of life itself. Indeed, we felt we had received the sentence of death. But this happened that we might not rely on ourselves but on God, who raises the dead. 2 Corinthians‬ ‭1:8-9‬ ‭NIV

Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing.

Mistakes/Guilt has a purpose. 

I am not sorry that I sent that severe letter to you, though I was sorry at first, for I know it was painful to you for a little while. Now I am glad I sent it, not because it hurt you, but because the pain caused you to repent and change your ways. It was the kind of sorrow God wants his people to have, so you were not harmed by us in any way. For the kind of sorrow God wants us to experience leads us away from sin and results in salvation. There’s no regret for that kind of sorrow. But worldly sorrow, which lacks repentance, results in spiritual death. 2 Corinthians‬ ‭7:8-10‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Injustice has a purpose. 

“You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people.” Genesis‬ ‭50:20‬ ‭NLT‬‬

 

All of it has a purpose. 

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters. And those he predestined, he also called; those he called, he also justified; those he justified, he also glorified. What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? Romans‬ ‭8:28-32‬ ‭NIV‬‬

 

We have small troubles for a while now, but they are helping us gain an eternal glory that is much greater than the troubles. ‭‭2 Corinthians‬ ‭4:17‬ ‭NCV

It’s Not All Toxic

You lose yourself in the toxic when you throw out the timeless.

“With all these things in mind, dear brothers and sisters, stand firm and keep a strong grip on the teaching we passed on to you both in person and by letter.” ‭‭2 Thessalonians‬ ‭2:15‬ ‭NLT

““Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted. Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth. Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Blessed are the merciful, for they will be shown mercy. Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God. Blessed are the peacemakers, for they will be called children of God. Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭5:3-10‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Instead, we will speak the truth in love, growing in every way more and more like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church.” Ephesians‬ ‭4:15‬ ‭NLT‬‬

But the Holy Spirit produces this kind of fruit in our lives: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against these things!” ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:22-23‬ ‭NLT

“Make it your goal to live a quiet life, minding your own business and working with your hands, just as we instructed you before. Then people who are not believers will respect the way you live, and you will not need to depend on others.” ‭‭1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:11-12‬ ‭NLT

“For this reason, confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of the righteous person is powerful in what it can achieve.” ‭‭James‬ ‭5:16‬ ‭CEB‬‬

 

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time.”

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5:6‬ ‭NIV‬‬

 

“But if we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and cleanse us from everything we’ve done wrong.” 1 John‬ ‭1:9‬ ‭CEB‬‬

 

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” Jeremiah‬ ‭29:13‬ ‭NIV

 

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take.” Proverbs‬ ‭3:5-6‬ ‭NLT

 

Embrace the timeless or you’ll become the toxic. 

 

“If I rebuild what I destroyed, then I really would be a lawbreaker. Galatians 2:18 NLT

Settle For Shallow

Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think.  Romans 12:2 NLT 

“When an evil spirit leaves a person, it goes into the desert, seeking rest but finding none. Then it says, ‘I will return to the person I came from.’ So it returns and finds its former home empty, swept, and in order. Then the spirit finds seven other spirits more evil than itself, and they all enter the person and live there. And so that person is worse off than before.”‭‭Matthew‬ ‭12:43-45‬ ‭NLT‬‬ 

You settle for shallow-

You have a lot of information, but not as much revelation. 

“So you must be careful to do everything they tell you. But do not do what they do, for they do not practice what they preach.”  ‭‭Matthew‬ ‭23:3‬ NLT 

Your faith is more flaky than faithful.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.”  ‭‭Galatians‬ ‭5:1‬ ‭NIV‬‬

“I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.”  ‭‭Psalms‬ ‭16:8‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Your faith is shallow.

“I know all the things you do, that you are neither hot nor cold. I wish that you were one or the other! But since you are like lukewarm water, neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth!
